Bujumbura – Lake Tanganyika – Gitega Cultural Experience
Experience the wildlife, culture and everyday life of Burundi during this carefully planned two-day private tour. The journey combines a Lake Tanganyika boat safari, Bujumbura city exploration, traditional markets and an unforgettable cultural visit to Gitega.
Day 1: Airport or Hotel Pickup, Boat Safari and Bujumbura City Tour
Your tour begins with a warm welcome and pickup from Bujumbura International Airport or your hotel.
We will travel to the Lake Tanganyika area for a guided boat tour through the wetlands and waterways near Bujumbura. During the boat excursion, you may see hippos, crocodiles and several species of waterbirds in their natural environment.
After the boat tour, we will continue with a guided tour of Bujumbura. The city experience may include important monuments, local neighbourhoods, cultural landmarks and busy local markets where you can discover Burundian products, food, clothing and everyday life.
Lunch and dinner will be arranged during the day.
In the evening, you will be transferred to Club du Lac Tanganyika Hotel or another comfortable hotel of a similar standard for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 2: Gitega, Traditional Drums and Local Community Experience
After breakfast, your driver and guide will pick you up from the hotel for the journey to Gitega, the political capital of Burundi.
The drive offers beautiful views of Burundi’s hills, rural communities, farms and local villages.
In Gitega, you will visit a traditional Burundian drum sanctuary and enjoy a short live drum performance. Burundian drumming is one of the country’s most important cultural traditions and is known for its powerful rhythms, energetic dancing and colourful traditional clothing.
You will also have an opportunity to meet local people and learn more about Burundian traditions, community life and cultural practices.
After lunch, we will begin the return journey to Bujumbura. You will be dropped off at your hotel or another agreed location in the city.
