The day began with excitement and smiles. After a comfortable pick-up, we journeyed north to Gitega Province, home to Gishora Drum Sanctuary, one of Burundi’s most sacred historical sites. Along the road, the lush green hills and peaceful countryside offered a perfect opportunity for the kids to see a different side of Burundi—calm, natural, and full of charm.

The Royal Drummers of Gishora performed a breathtaking drum ceremony—an experience that left everyone, young and old, wide-eyed with awe. The children couldn’t take their eyes off the energetic dance moves and majestic sound of the Ingoma (traditional drums).

Even the grandmother, with deep emotion in her eyes, shared how this experience reminded her of her youth and the importance of passing down traditions to the younger generation.
