Experience one of Burundi’s most unique cultural encounters with a visit to a Batwa community. The Batwa are one of the oldest indigenous groups in the region and have a rich cultural heritage closely connected to the forests and traditional ways of life.

During the Batwa Tribe Tour, visitors will have the opportunity to meet members of the Batwa community, learn about their traditions, and discover aspects of their daily life, music, and crafts.

This cultural experience offers travelers a deeper understanding of Burundi’s diverse cultures and provides an opportunity to interact respectfully with one of the country’s historic communities.


Tour Itinerary

09:00 – Hotel Pickup

Your guide from M Travel and Tours Burundi will pick you up from your hotel or accommodation in Bujumbura.

The guide will explain the history and cultural background of the Batwa people during the journey.


10:00 – Arrival at Batwa Community

Upon arrival at the Batwa community, visitors will be welcomed by local residents who will introduce their traditions and way of life.

Time spent: 15 minutes


10:15 – Cultural Interaction

Visitors will have the opportunity to interact with members of the community and learn about their traditional lifestyle.

11:00 – Traditional Music and Dance

Members of the Batwa community often create handmade crafts such as baskets and other traditional items.

Visitors can see how these items are made and may choose to purchase souvenirs to support the community.

Time spent: 30 minutes


12:00 – Return to Bujumbura

After the visit, your guide will drive you back to your hotel in Bujumbura.


13:00 – Arrival in Bujumbura

Arrival at your hotel.
