Price conditions

USD price per person for the complete 4-day programme. The displayed base price is for one traveller booking alone. Rates for 2, 3–4 and 5–8 travellers apply to one private party travelling together on the same dates and itinerary. The calculator shows the exact party total before payment. Listed transport, guiding, activity fees and programme meals are included. The published room basis includes one private room per booked adult; children share with their accompanying adult. Airport arrival and departure transfers are included at no extra charge. Changes outside the published programme require your agreement to a separate quotation. Payment-provider fees are separate and shown before payment.

Payment and balance

Pay the full amount online, or choose a 50% deposit when departure is more than 14 days away. The remaining balance is due 14 days before the start date. Bookings made within 14 days of departure require full payment. The secure payment page shows the booking currency and exact amount to copy before opening WeTravel. A receipt upload is evidence for review; payment is recorded as verified after our team checks it.

Cancellation and refunds

If you cancel at least 30 days before departure, the amount paid is refunded in full. With 14–29 days’ notice, 50% of the amount paid is refunded. With less than 14 days’ notice, or for a no-show, no refund is due. Any retained amount is reduced where we recover costs or resell the cancelled booking. A date change requested at least 30 days before departure can be considered; any price difference must be agreed before the change is accepted. If M Travel cancels the journey, choose an agreed alternative or a full refund. If a listed service cannot be provided, we offer an agreed alternative or refund the unprovided portion. Eligible refunds are initiated within 7 business days, normally to the original payment method; banks and payment providers may take longer. Send cancellation requests by email or WhatsApp with your booking reference. These terms do not limit applicable consumer rights.

Weather and changes

The guide may change the order of visits for weather, road conditions or site access while preserving the agreed programme where possible. Any material replacement is discussed with you. If an included service cannot be provided and you do not accept the alternative, the unprovided portion is refunded under the package terms. Hiking routes and turnaround points depend on weather, footing and the group; no summit or specific viewpoint is guaranteed.

About this tour

The route uses Bugarama, Gitega and Rutana as overnight stops, giving the journey an active progression across different terrain. This adult itinerary is intended for confident walkers. Guiding, park entries, meals and transport are included, while technical climbing and summit guarantees are excluded.

Itinerary

Day 1 — Mount Heha guided highland hike
Begin with private pickup in Bujumbura. Take a private guided hike in the Mount Heha highlands, allowing approximately four to five hours on foot with rest stops. Expect uneven ground and changes in weather. The route and turnaround point follow current conditions and your fitness; reaching a particular viewpoint or summit is not guaranteed. Overnight in Bugarama, with dinner and accommodation included.

Day 2 — Extended Kibira walking day
After breakfast in Bugarama, continue the private programme. Dedicate the main part of the day to an authorised Kibira forest trail with a local guide. Plan for roughly four to five hours of walking with pauses, carrying a packed lunch and water. The guide can shorten the route if weather or footing changes. This is a forest hike, not a guaranteed primate-tracking programme. Overnight in Gitega, with dinner and accommodation included.

Day 3 — Nyakazu escarpment viewpoints
After breakfast in Gitega, continue the private programme. Discover the dramatic opening of the Nyakazu landscape from authorised viewpoints with your guide. Take short walks where footing allows and leave time to appreciate the depth and scale of the setting. Stay back from unprotected edges; this itinerary does not include climbing, abseiling or technical descent. Overnight in Rutana, with dinner and accommodation included.

Day 4 — Karera Waterfalls walking visit
After breakfast in Rutana, continue the private programme. Explore the accessible paths at Karera Waterfalls, allowing time at several viewpoints rather than hurrying to a single photograph. Your guide sets a suitable pace on steps, roots and potentially wet ground. Park entry and the guided walk are included; footwear with grip is essential. Finish with drop-off in Bujumbura.
